The Begining of the End

So, I have finished HP7, in about 16 hrs. Not too bad but Erica totally beat my time... Ended up getting home with the book by 12:30, totally worth not going home between work and hanging out at B&N. Have yet to get any real sleep, but I did take a shower. This is one dedicated fan that refuses to be smelly!

The thing about reading it all in one go, or actually any first-time read-through for these books is that it's only the tip of the ice berg in terms of enjoying the book. Probably Monday night I'll re-start it and only read one or two chapters at each go, at least until I get to the last 6-11 chapters :) That really lets me actually GET into the book, and notice the details and foreshadowing rather than just the plot points and knowing that during some of that time I was close to falling asleep until I could make a new cup of tea.

Even then, I know full well, that there is so much in this book. So much that needs to be poured over and talked about. Erica and I went over the major plot points, but there are even a few more things that we wanted to say and get out before a second read-through. But once more of my friends and family get done, it'll just be crazy to talk about. I'm very excited that this book will feel new and exciting for months yet to come and the fact that it is the end, really and truly will sink in.

Back in Red

New Hair Color

The dye I used (Loreal Color Pulse, Red Pluse) is a level one, and doesn't have the could-be harsh chemicals that more permanent hair dyes have. Consequently it can't lighten your hair color, only add pigment onto it, hence why my hair is auburn rather than ginger. I think it'll work perfectly for what it's going to do. Confirm that I really am the obsessive fan that was blindingly apparent a few years ago.

On the subject of the book itself, I'm only now realizing how excited about it I am. I'm so glad that I've gotten to grow up with Harry (though faster than he has) and I'm also glad that I get to experience the closing of his story as more of an adult than a child. I was 13 when I got the first three books for my 13th birthday, and that opened up a wonderful world that's brought me countless hours of day-dreaming. I don't see a lot of myself directly in Harry, but any adolescent knows what it's like to feel different, and want a place to belong. Now that Harry is finally going to really become a man, I'm also on my way to finding a place in this world that's my own.

Also, I'm really hoping that we can fill out the rest of the Gryffindor Quidditch team in Portsmouth tomorrow, that would rock.

Plug Pluging

So, awhile back Scott convinced me to try online shopping through a new and extra-special site. The appeal is that they offer cash back on purchases that you make through them... and more! The more is that they have daily "shows" which feature reverse auctions (item starts at full price, and then drops as time goes on until someone buys it at that discounted price). There's also a community element to it all, and one hour a day they have a special show that's hosted and deals go super fast!

The big reason though for the plugishness for Jellyfish & Smack Shopping is that they're embarking on a big membership push, and hope to do a lot by word of mouth, so here's the link that will take you there, as well as end up benefiting me in a small way ^_~

So Hip, So Trendy

I finally find time to post as I sit here in Panera Bread having french onion soup out of a bread bowl, oddly complimented by a Jones Fufu Berry Soda.

Work at Liberty Mutual has been going well. I've been put to work inputing data in the form of reports so that an older program can be retired, and a newer one will be used for more accounts. It does mean that I'm doing almost the same thing everyday, but generally I can get enough into a rhythm so that my mind can drift a bit. At any rate I've been complimented by my supervisor for my speed, and any mistakes I've made have been minimal.

Plans are also in motion for moving back to NY! My security has been deposited, and I'm starting to get in the mood to search out inexpensive house hold items. I'm not normally the yard sale type because of their preference for opening early. Still I'm more than willing to sift through things at the goodwill. My mood about moving is generally high, otherwise why would I be doing it? But I do get nervous about really making it, and taking on the responsibility of actually having my own apartment. But I'm not completely alone, just gaining a bit more independence.
