Hair
After putting it off for MONTHS I finally got my haircut! I'm not posting a picture b/c I don't have a good picture of it, it's not very different, and I might get it cut again soon-ish.Basically it took me until last spring to realize that what I disliked about my hair (not that I hated my hair, I just wasn't happy with it all the time) was that I wanted it to be straighter, so I bought a flat iron and things have been better since then. Not too long after that I came to grips with the fact that I just can't have a cut that's too styled. I wear my hair completly down 0.1% of the time so a really cut look is lost on me.
Since I do wear my hair at least half up so often I thought that I could get away with just having my hair cut off, and that's what I asked for at this last haircut. The stylist wouldn't give me a straight answer on layers and if they're good or bad which is at least a change from the stylist I once went to that basically said "I'm going to put layers in your hair because that's how you should always cut hair." So I went with none, and rather than thinking that it looks "good" or "bad" I think that it makes me look young. I have now realized that not having any depth to a haircut is typical either for a kid who is just getting their haircut simply because that's what their mom wants, or someone who is older and really doesn't care at all. After looking at myself with my hair all the way down over the past few days I've decided that I do look a bit younger, or at least a bit out of touch.
Now, I'm not running out to get some layers or whatever because when I have my hair up at least a bit it looks fine and I'm guessing that no one notices. But in an effort on my part to also get into the habit of having my haircut ever 6 weeks or there abouts next time I will ask for very light layers, because at least then when I'm leaving the salon, and when I look at my hair after taking a shower it'll look just a tiny bit better, if only to me.

I am a big fan of layers and from what I remember your hair looking like, I think it would definitely suit you nicely in both the down and half-up/half-down styles. :)

Stuff & Stuff
I haven't been blogging much lately partially b/c I'm still adjusting to not having as much free time with working full time, and also b/c I've been journaling more (on paper!) about private personal stuff as a way to get my thoughts out. So all that would be left for me to blog about would be the boring day to day things, or really random musings about my shoes or the snow, or the need to go grocery shopping. But I will talk a little more about my job b/c it's been pretty exciting. I'm enjoying most of the work - filing and printing reports and the like. But for the last half of this week I spent more time moving boxes of old books and reports around than organizing things in manilla folders. Part of this job included cleaning out/ organizing the file room and by Friday I had thrown out everything that I could with my limited knowledge of finance and investment, and old files own by large companies. Thankfully on Monday my real supervisor will be back after a three week absence and should be able to give me more direction so that I can finish up my work.
One of my pseudo-supervisors essentially said that they want to keep me on until the back log of filing they have is through (which is almost is) and that file room is clean. It's possible that I'll finish this week, but I'd be nice if I could keep going longer as long as it works out with Adecco and stuff. I haven't talked to anyone from their yet so I don't even know the procedure for legthening a contract.
I've also been thinking alot more about going back to NH. I do like it here in Rochester, or at least in Rochester's Suburbia. But I'm starting to think that in a couple months I can't just go from where I am now in my life to finding an appartment and actually living on my own. I want to go back to NH for a bit and figure it out, especially b/c it's looking like Scott will be away for the summer and he's the biggest reason I have for living in NY. Absolutely nothing is set in stone yet.

To change the subject, Scott and I went to see "Children of Men" last night. It was very good although I slightly disagree with people saying it's a out there art house indie film that leaves you with tons of questions and few answers etc. While I do think that it isn't mainstream, I think they struck a good balance between laying the plot out there for you in large flashing letters and hiding it in a darkened room inside one of five locked trunks. I was wondering if this was b/c I'm starting to inject more indie films into my netflix queue, or if I'm becoming a more observant movie goer, or what. Scott said that it wasn't just me, but still I think that I am starting to appreciate odd films more, I finally feel like I can say that I like and enjoy movies and have evidence to back it up.

Children of Men was a very good movie, I agree with you 100%. I don't think I would call it much indie either really though...
Seen any other good indie films though? I love them very much and would be curious to see if you recommend any.
