Spam!?!

I was always very pleased with my web-habits since in the majority of cases I didn't recive a lot of spam. Once a month or so I'd find something in my e-mail client's spam folder (that wasn't suppose to be there) and it would throw me a bit off gaurd but I'd just delete it and move on with my life.

However, earlier this week I guess I signed up for something, or my e-mail got found, or I dunno what because I have recently been inundated with spam messages! They all get put into my spam folder which is nice, but still! I also feel compelled to delete them all rather than have them sit there until they get deleted automatically. I like having a tidy inbox.

I'm not sure what triggered it since most of what I'd be frequenting were employment sites which shouldn't be so careless. Oh well.

Also of note, Blogger has released their beta for a new posting system! It's not that different from what I can tell so far but now instead of using my blogger acount it uses my google account! I love my google account.

Work

So my first day at AE went something like this: Fill out paper work for awhile, watch inspirational video staring AE models, walk around the for an hour or so learning all kinds of interesting things, sit in the backroom talking about weird stuff with other employees on break, spend an hour and a half opening fitting rooms and straightening clothes near fitting rooms. I also got to wear a headset. Fitting room is where you start, and then I'll move into more focused tidying up in the other sections of the store and doing more customer service stuff. There was one other guy that I was also starting with me, but he's the new stock room boy so we only spent the first couple hours together before he got holed away in the back and I got to be on the sales floor.

Everyone that I met and talked to was really nice, they admited to being very quirky and generally outspoken which is good for me. I'm all about being able to quasi-annoymously ask questions over my head-set and then have a disembodied voice tell me the answer. I just hope I get more than one or two shifts in the coming weeks.

Also, everything is pretty organized, which is good. That and there are plenty of people working which is a bit of a switch but I'm glad, I'd hate to work anywhere that was understaffed. I'm still holding out some hope for another part time job in the mall at least for December. Then I'm hoping that one of them will want to keep me on, and I can stay there while continually looking for a "real" job not selling things.

I Have a Job!

So I'll admit upfront that I'm selling out a bit - I'm now working for American Eagle... Sigh if you must but it's a job and I'm sure it won't be that bad. At least mom will finally be happy that I'm working in a clothing store.

I have my traning/orientation on Thursday, and we'll see how many hours I get after that. It's only $7.50/hr, which isn't BAD but it's less than I would have liked. If nothing else it's a start. Also the manager that I had a mini-interview with wasn't lying when she said they had a nice discount- it's 40% off of new merchandise and then they have a smaller discount off of sale/clearance things and before new lines get put out we have a chance to get things for half off.

I also talked to a woman from Aeropostale about coming in for an interview that same thursday... only at 3 to run no longer than half an hour. In a world where I have both jobs I think it could work but I'd feel a tinge guilty, and might end up being super busy and working double shifts and/or hanging out at the mall on weekends etc. which I'd rather avoid doing. It'd deal with those situations for the rest of the month since I know neither one would give me full time hours (or probably even close to it.) But into January we'd have to see - both if they want me to say on and hours I may or may not get.

Did it Actually Happen?

As I left Scott's house to go home to my own, I noticed some very white crystalized ice on the very edge of the car door near the window. I didn't see how it got there, and I think it's gone now after driving home. How very curious...

However, our evening plans were very far from what they were planned to be. We've been meaning to have a bit of a celebration by having dessert somewhere very fancy however we realized that neither one of us was dressed for it on Friday, and they are closed on Sunday, as we found out tonight. Also our other evening plans to hang with some folks from church fell through as we were almost the only ones that weren't busy this week. Oh well.

Instead we made an evening of Starbucks coffee and video games! In this case "video games" isn't code for "making out" ;) But around 10 o'clock I suggested we switch gears and perhaps watch a movie, or play a "real" game. I soon made a short list from Scott's DVD collection, and he narrowed it down to a TV Show that we both enjoy, but when we attempted to watch said show his computer's dvd didn't seem to happy to comply. At first it wasn't playing at all, and Scott thought it was an issue with his codecs. But after some tweeking it actually played only with horrible color. After over an hour of poking and prodding the computer and many many restarts and attempts at updating things I pulled out the cards and we finished up with a lovely game of Gin Rummy. I'm sorry to say that I lost. All in all an enjoyable night even if it wasn't exactly what we planned.

Adjustments

Scott's here! Actually at this very momoment he's driving from his house to mine, but he his now back in the city for awhile. Last night we had what could be called a "date" only it lasted a total of nine hours... Still, we are working to not spend every free minute of everyday in each other's company, while still enjoying the obvious benefits of living essentally in the same city, if on slightly different sides and me being firmly in the 'burbs while Scott actually has a Rochester address.

Things still feel like I'm on vacation. Hopefully those will start to fade when Scott starts school and isn't just out there on his own vacation, but is actualy being productive, heh.

I'd still like to add a few things to my room to make it ME, the trouble is thinking of/finding those things that are both inexpensive and don't require holes being made in walls. However no matter what I do, it'll end up looking firmly on the "girly" side of things. I can live with that but it seems to be just too much of a pattern for me.
