Here's the Story
Friday we planned to leave the house around 9:00 am to get to Rochester around dinner time allowing for a few stops for lunch, coffee, etc. However, Dad went to move the cars from behind our house the front (closer to where my stuff was by a flight of stairs and a hallway) he saw that one of the cars had a flat tire! When he told me and my mom I almost didn't believe him because those sorts of things aren't supposed to happen, but it did. He ended up taking it to a garage a few minutes away... but they were very busy. The guy there told him that they didn't have a firm opening until 2 that afternoon, but he might get it in sooner if he left it there. He called to tell us that and I told him plainly that that wasn't acceptable, we needed to leave NOW. In 20 minutes my emotions went from sad to leave to mad that we couldn't!Mom went to go and pick him up so we could all wait at home, but when she got there they were just taking the car in to change the tire! Apparently Dad told them how upset I was and they made time for it, hehehe. The car was all fixed around 10:30 and we started loading things up to move out asap! This all turned out to be a blessing in disguise because in Rochester my new room was still wet with paint! And our almost 2 hour delay gave them more time to finish up getting it ready for me.
Once we set out we made good time and got to my new home around 7. Then we (me, my parents, The Harbaughs, one of their daughters and her fiance) went to dinner and after came back to move what we could of my stuff in. The room was still missing switch plates & such as well as the touch ups still being a bit wet. This meant that half my bags had to stay in the living room until we could really move the furniture into place.

On Saturday my parents and I went out to get a few things for my room, specifically a desk and chair. We were able to get those easily at a nearby Staples and brought back the boxes to assemble later that day. We then went out to explore a little bit and drive through town. We just drove around and didn't really worry about where we were until about coffee time where we went to seek out a hopefully local shop. We did find one slightly close to where I'm living, but the coffee wasn't anything out of the ordinary.
On a recommendation we went to a Japanese restaurant for dinner closer into the city. It was great! Mom and I both had the Chirashi, which is a selection of fish over sushi rice. Dad had the Sashimi Combination which is very similar only more fish and less rice that's in its own bowl. We all agreed it was very good and split two desserts - an egg custard/pudding that had whisky over it and a rice ball with red bean filling. I really enjoyed the latter.
After dinner we went back and moved a few more things into my room after deciding everything was dry. We also got the switch plates on the walls and moved some of the furniture against the walls. My parents said goodbye (they left very early on Sunday) and I started work on putting together my desk and chair. They both went pretty easily except for a few screws that didn't want to go in.

Sunday I got to finish actually unpacking all my bags and put up a few decorative things. We also went curtain shopping, which was a nightmare... and had church that evening and I went out to dinner with some people from that.
Now I'm pretty much settled and finally have my own groceries! And so I begin the process of finding a job, the thing I've been loathing to do. I'm sure things will work out but any poking is slightly appreciated... in the long run at least.
Also Scott arrives

Command Strips!
So, as of... a few months ago I started using some of the Command Strips by 3M. I was/am using three of their "Large Hooks" to hang up sweaters and my purse. They're working out well even though I can only hange them on the back of my door because of our textured walls.Knowing that my room in Rochester has regular painted walls I'm planning to reuse my hooks and also bought some more for other decorating adventures. However I have encountered a possible problem.
Right now I have a string of lights with latern-esque origami boxes over the bulbs which I use as a reading light in bed. I want to hange these lights up in my new room with my nifty "Mini Hooks" but they do say right on the package "DO NOT hang objects over beds." Now, I'm assuming that this is because if you hang something up over a bed and it falls it has a greater change of killing/hurting a person than if you hung it up in a hallway or near a chair. BUT I don't think that my lights will fall off of the wall and kill me while I sleep, or even poke my eye out or something. I also don't plan to sue 3M if such a thing were to happen. But... should I still plan to hang the lights with these hooks over my bed? I could move them, but I would like to avoid buying other hooks or making a mess of the walls.

Meh, I'd do it. What's the worst that could happen, you crush the lights when you roll over them?

The Order of the Phoenix
So, the teaser trailer for OotP is online. It's very weird to think about it being made into a movie. This is the first movie that's come out for one of the HP books that was published after the first movie was made. When I first read HP5 I found myself thinking thinking about parts of it done on film, and what the actors would look like etc. I'm not sure if that's good or bad.
HP as a fandom with the rumors of films are what got me into spending "too much" time online. I spent hours looking for information and then discovered fanfic and realized that I was a true blue (scarlett?) fangirl. While I'm not as entrenched in the thick of things as I once was I still like to keep up with a general sense of news and not seem like an idiot that could be out-trivia'd by a 12 year old.
I am excited by HP5 the movie, and all that goes along with it, but as a large concept it seems too planned rather than taken as just a book to turn into a film.

In very different news I'm moving on Friday. This is causing great nervousness.

Good Fortune
I wanted to go to the mall/Best Buy today & b/c they have excellent coffee I decided to see if I could find a decent parking space in Portsmouth and go to the BNG there rather than just getting slightly over-priced for the quality coffee at the Starbucks in the B&N next to Best Buy.Well, I was able to find a metered space *next* to the parking garage which is fine, and thankfully had enough change to cover the 15 min max that it would take me to get a coffee. So I did that and there wasn't much of a line, AND they had pumpkin spice coffee (<3)! So I waited behind one woman while she was helped and alternately looked at the baristas while getting a couple bucks of out my wallet. Then a barista moves toward the very short line... and bypasses me to a woman who's looking at things in the dessert case! I started to say "um, actually I was next..." when the other barista who was currently helping the woman directly in front of me (who just got a regular coffee) said "Don't worry I can help you what would you like?" So I told her that I wanted a medium pumpkin spice and she gave it to me and said "You're all set." ^_^ Woohoo free coffee! I'm not sure she would have done the same thing if I had ordered a triple mocha, but on this particular occasion I just wanted a regular coffee so it's all good.

Anyway, the real reason I wanted to go to the mall/Best Buy was to trade in a couple of my older DS Games that I know I won't play again. Ended up getting $23 for both of them which is fine, but since I knew that they at least *like* you to take it as store credit (would only have been $18.40 as cash) I had hoped to buy a pack of DS Stylus Pens which I had almost bought before but Best Buy only had them in red and blue, neither color of which goes with my pink DS. But neither EB nor GameStop had *any* stylus pens and the one game that I was seriously thinking of buying was $5 more than I knew it was at Best Buy (and I wouldn't get double reward zone points that BB is doing for the Holiday Lead-up!) So I now have some store credit to use at some point and it'll probably be for a used game b/c Best Buy doesn't have used games, unless I've been ignorant of this for the past year or two.
I also wanted to play the demo of Elite Beat Agents & March of the Minis. Only I forgot headphones... So I only demoed MotM which does in fact look great! I might try and go back and not forget my headphones sometime next week. So to slightly console myself and because I was there anyway and really wanted those pens I thought that I would check Best Buy again, and my good luck continued! Not only did they have pens that weren't red and blue... they were pink and purple! I do think it's odd that they have both white and black accents on them, but still... That rocks my socks off ^_^
I have no idea why I so enjoy explaining my shopping trips in such excruciating detail...

How Un-American
I don't like to vote. The first thing that makes me think of is the song in Evita where Peron is saying that it's too much of a hassle to get a majority vote so we should just have a dictatorship. But I don't want that either.
More so, I don't like to vote because I never feel like I know enough to have my ballot mean anything. Yes I could spend at least some of my time looking up candidates on the internet and seeing what they actually stand for and making an informed decision. But I also don't feel like I know enough about the issues to know if I should agree or disagree with them, or what these positions really mean, and what it's all for in the end. That I blame on me sleeping through a good part of US History I (the most boring class ever.)
I'm not sure if this all means that I should just not vote, or vote along party lines that from past experiences I identify with more, or for who has the nicest name. I do know however that I don't want to just vote for who spent the most money on advertising, that would be bad.

If it's any consolation, I didn't vote because my absentee ballot didn't arrive in time. :(

Dreaming
Studying dreams and dreaming was one of the few things about my Psych class last year that I enjoyed. In fact I've been off and on interested in dreaming for awhile going (at least) back to when I read Muse and they had an article about it. While I haven't always "liked" sleeping, I normally look forward to dreaming as a very weird form of entertainment, though not for interpreting.Lately I've noticed that I've been remembering my dreams more often than not. At least when I wake up because I can't remember that many of them now but I do remember that I had dreamed them. I think this is because I've more often than not gotten at least 8 hrs of sleep meaning that my brain was able to cycle through everything it needed to get there and back again.
One of them last night however was just a touch disturbing. The basic plot points where that I was about 3 months pregnant with a small discernible bump, Erica bought me tea, and I made a surprise visit to Scott (who was the father, of course) and I visited a shop trying to locate the book What to Expect When You're Expecting. It was very amusing when I was half asleep this morning, but when I think about it more I'm more just freaked out. Honestly I can trace it back to a movie and TV Shows that I've watched recently, but it's a bit more out there than my usual getting lost or winding up in weird buildings from my past.
