Tomorrow Is...
My Birthday! Soon I will leave behind my teenage years and embrace my 20's. That's very very scary. Which is why I included a vintage b-day picture! There's also another in my flickr account if you are so inclined...So, for anyone that's left shopping late, I updated my Amazon Wish List this evening, and will remind everyone that they can also just send money with Pay Pal to my gmail e-mail account ;)
In other news I've been expressing my craft-y side with an exciting painting project! It's for my Grandmother for Christmas, and I doubt she'll ever read this so I'll go into it more. I'm making a set of 12 napkin rings (wooden) to go with the 12 Days of Christmas song! I have them all painted with a colored base coat and then their number in black. I started doing some of the birds and figures and such, but it's proving to be a bit harder than I thought. They'll turn out fine though I'm sure.

Lady of the Ring
I got a ring! Since I was about 15 this sapphire and diamond ring has been promised to me. It belonged to my great great aunt, and when she died it got passed down to my grandmother who enjoyed wearing it for several years. Since I'm the only one in the family with sapphire as a birthstone, she said I could have it when I was "older." Well, apparently 20 is old enough! It does need to be resized, but that's a minor fix. Yay!I also got "Firefly: The Complete Series" from my parents. I had mentioned that, and asked for a new alarm clock, so hopefully I'll get the latter on my actual b-day. I dunno if they have anything else planned or not, we shall see.
Along with gift giving we went to see "A Little Night Music" at SRT. Good but not fantastic, the production was great, the story was predictable, but that fact was also predictable. We then went out to eat, I had grilled tuna which was good, but I thought the plating was too heavy on tuna and light on veggies/sides. We also got coffee and dessert at a new posh coffee shop downtown in Portsmouth. I thought the coffee was a bit strong (I had a latte) but my eclair was fantastic! Everyone else had good things to say though, so it's all good in the end.
And I'm too tired to end this any better than that. Night!

Girly Moment
I'm becoming a bit nervous. This is the point in time when all sorts of TV Shows are being put on DVD and I love taking advantage of my netflix to get these shows and can just digest them quickly without comercials on my own time. However... though it's reportedly coming out on DVD in 2 1/2 weeks netflix has yet to list Season 3 of One Tree Hill on their website! For essentially all DVDs that are going to come out (even if they don't have a firm release date yet!) netflix lets you "save" them and they'll add it to your queue when it does come out - very simple. But for whatever reason they don't have OTH3 on there yet, and I really don't want to buy this DVD set as much as I would otherwise like to watch it. :\
B&N & Amazon both show it on their website for $42 (about 30% of the list price.) but I don't really want to order it, and I'm not convinced my local B&N will have it in stock. ALSO very surprising Best Buy's site is currently showing it at... $69.99 O.o Not only are they not showing a discount (yet at least) they also have the list price up $10 from what both Amazon & B&N showed! Lame to an extreame.
So I guess I'll give netflix the next couple weeks to see if they can get their act together, otherwise I'll scan ads and contemplate dropping more than $40 on getting a dvd set... and then probably see if I can sell it back to somewhere. Bah.

You should totally buy "Veronica Mars" season one. It's on sale at Best Buy for 19.99 and Target for 18.99. I bought it a week ago and have been watching non-stop. I think you'd love it.

Well, I rented them all (VM Season one AND two!) from netflix, so that I could watch the new ones on CW this fall, but if it's that low for the whole set I might buy them!

Little Miss Sunshine
It's been awhile since I wrote a movie review ^_^Well, it's cloudy today, and I figured that since I never take advantage of getting free popcorn on Tuesdays with my regal crown club card, that I should go and see a movie. Because for $6.75 I can justify a matinee & small popcorn on a Tuesday. So I went to the theatre, and it so happens that the man at the ticketing counter used to work at the mall (as a security guard) when I worked there! He's a really nice guy that's also a Christian and in a round about way knows my parents. So he let me in for free, added a bunch of points on my RCC account and still let me have the free popcorn! That along with sneaking in the bottle of water I always do made for a very nice mid-day treat. I was hoping that I would be the only one in the theatre (I was the first one in at 10 minutes before it was scheduled to start) but I wasn't, I think there were 8 or 9 people who were there in the end.
SO, I had gone into this knowing that it was quirky, but very good and also emotional. I have to vouch that the quirkiness is the biggest appeal of the film. The humor in it is very odd, not in a dry Monty python kind of way. But just an "I can't believe that this is happening!" kind of way. It was partially predictable, but not everything which is very good. All in all it's a fun movie that doesn't rely on stupid low level jokes, and does have a bit of a message to it. I would recommend it to someone looking for a fun movie experience that's basically light hearted without being too inane & pointless.

After the movie I then got some cool make-up brushes! Carmindy recommends getting brushes from an art store instead of buying "regular" make-up ones. Since Michael’s had a sale on one of their open stock brush lines I bought three - one big "blush" brush, a small-ish angular brush for eye shadow, and a very small round brush for detailed shadow or liner or something. After now doing my make-up with said brushes I wish I had gotten the bigger round brush that I was going back and forth on in the store, perhaps at a later date :) What I like a LOT though, is that these have handles that are clear with silver glitter in them! How cool is that??? I didn't expect artists brushes to be so funky ^_^ Of course they had more conservative ones but I liked these b/c they did feel soft enough, had shorter handles than some of the others so they could fit in my make up bag & said handles don't scream "I'm using artists brushes for my make-up" unless you read them.
Finally, to both celebrate a v. cheap movie and also to distract myself from the pain of getting gas I got the special drink at BNG - this one was a triple coconut latte for the price of a double regular latte! So all in all quite a nice day.

Sailing Under the Stars
Yay for more embroidery! It's a ship, sailing the main Silver Dawn Color, under the simplifed diagram of the Pleiades ^_^ This makes it all symbolic and cool, really. I'm not sure if you can see it in the photo, but the ship DOES have cannons... 3 little grey french knots sticking out of the side, hehe. The pattern for the ship is from Sublime Stiching, but I did the stars myself of course ;)
I'm going to look over some of the other patterns I bought from SS to see what I want to do next. I've been putting off doing peach again b/c it's so complex. That and if I want to do a coffee cup I need to make the diagram myself which is bit on the annoying side.
Yay needlework!
