That's More Like It

The car is all better; we're picking it up tonight! We had to take it to a specific vw place, which is a bit more annoying but they were very very fast.

Shopping tomorrow is still on! I'm very excited about the whole thing. Lately been watching crazy amounts of a show on the style channel called "The Look for Less." In it they pair a person with some kind of upcoming event with a professional stylist to recreate a designer look for $150 in under an hour. Now, me being me I saw this as a great opportunity to try and get a new outfit together. I am cutting out the hour time limit, and of course I don't have a way of getting a professional in. And while I may not stick as closely to the budget I am going to record all the prices and see how little I spent, hopefully :)

The event to go along with all this will be for my visit to Lexington (7/7-16) either on the airplane, for church, or a nice date, not exactly sure which one yet.

Yay!

Not Cool

For 2 and a half weeks now the car has been in the shop. Seriously. I got my license on a Tuesday, and then on Thursday the car went away and has only been seen from afar. Apparently the first problem was that our mechanic would need several hours to work on it, and then the second problem was that a flu bug went around the garage and they got a backlog -_-

It's the worst timing possible, and more so I had things I wanted to do! Places to go, people to see. I'm almost worried that b/c I haven't driven a bit in the past 2 weeks plus that I won't want to even when the car IS fixed. That I'll keep putting it off since there's been no way I could drive lately.

The bright light is that there is a grand shopping day set for Thursday afternoon with not just my mother but some friends of ours as well, and all of this will culminate with excellent Japanese food. As well we're off site to Concord which will make it just that much more exciting - and still no sales tax!

Another Project

I made this shirt mostly out of a peice of silk from Thailand, and then added straps and ties so that it can be worn comfortably as a shirt. I don't really call that sewing, because I didn't have to do that much real sewing or cutting or whatever. There wasn't a pattern I just did what made sense with the fabric that was around.

I wish the blue that I used for the straps matched a bit more, but I'm currently car-less which means I can't buy anything decent in that respect. The one problem I have with it, is that even though the straps are fairly wide, it's still easy to see my bra b/c the back is fairly open (see other picture on flickr!) One way that I think I'll get around this is by wearing one of my bikini tops that's a somewhat similar color (dark purple) so that at least it blends in and I'd feel comfortable being seen in just the top.

Also of note, the necklace I have on is new! It's a little shoe with diamond-esque stones on the front. Very cute and very on sale!

I Like Blogging Photos

When I first started I thought I'd just make 3 or 5 single objects and place them artfully on the shelfs. In picking out those objects I came up with a bit of a scene havning the fish in the "sea" and the boats on top of the sea and the butterflies in the air about that.

I would have made more fish but I only had instructions for that type handy and it's really too detailed a pattern for small peices of paper. I fully expect this to change at any moment either to add more to it, or in favor of other objects, paper or not.

It's Taken How Long?

I had one question wrong on the test, and the guy doing the practical only found fault in that I forgot to signal when I parked the first time. I have to say though, that that's one thing my parents hadn't reminded me about and that people tend not to do. Oh well.

Oddly enough I liked my picture on my Non Driver ID better than this one, not that it's HORRIBLE but just for the record. Unfortunatly they took that one away from me without a choice and I never scanned it in.

I haven't really driven anywhere yet however, and since my Aunt & Uncle are visiting for the weekend (and borrowing that car) I'm not sure exactly how much I'll get to before next week. Now I just need to actually figure out how to work the stereo and clean up a cd case to leave in there for my own personal use.

w00t!
