Pictures Finally!
I uploaded some pictures to my Flickr account the other day of my new apartment ^_^ Each one has a bit of commentary from me about what's actually in it so I won't repeat it here. The quality is fairly low since I don't have a "real" camera just my cell phone or web cam... but that's ok! I'm also thinking I should have taken a few more to show more of the actual layout, but that gives you a look at the key elements :)Also, I have a job! I've known since end of last week and am starting on Monday. It's more data entry but not for an insurance company this time so that's exciting. I'm generally glad to not just start making money but also stop spending my days lounging around my apartment, but this also means that I'll have to cram more into my evenings which is a little annoying. I guess I can officially relegate nights that Scott's busy to things like laundry and vacuuming - yay!?

A Place to Call My Own
I have my own apartment! It's a studio, part of a multi-unit house and actually in the city! Right now the best descriptor for it is "sparse" since I have next to no furniture, but that will change soon enough, at least this means that there's less to clutter and clean ^_^ I've decided after a few days living here that it really is just the right size. Basically a large bedroom with my own kitchenette and bathroom. The downsides are that I've had to scale down to a twin size bed rather than a full and having to get used to cooking on a gas stove, but it's really hot so I'm just making excuses not to. The best parts so far though are that I have the biggest closet I've ever had... at least in terms of rail space! In NH my closet was the width of a door way, and this is more than twice that! Before when I was living in Rochester I had a wider closet (compared to NH) but it had a closet system in it so half of it was rail and then the rest was shelves and pull out bins. This closet is narrow once you get past the opening, but the very back of it I'm just using to store my luggage, so the middle is for clothes I don't wear very often leaving what I'd want most easy to get to!
Also very cool, is that I have a claw foot tub :O I hadn't gotten an official tour of the apartment before I moved in, so I didn't realize that I'd have more than a shower let alone a nice tub! This winter I will have to instate weekly bubble baths, hehe.
My new address is on my facebook profile (as long as you've friended me) otherwise e-mail or im to get it. I'll post pictures when I have actual furniture...

The Begining of the End
So, I have finished HP7, in about 16 hrs. Not too bad but Erica totally beat my time... Ended up getting home with the book by 12:30, totally worth not going home between work and hanging out at B&N. Have yet to get any real sleep, but I did take a shower. This is one dedicated fan that refuses to be smelly! The thing about reading it all in one go, or actually any first-time read-through for these books is that it's only the tip of the ice berg in terms of enjoying the book. Probably Monday night I'll re-start it and only read one or two chapters at each go, at least until I get to the last 6-11 chapters :) That really lets me actually GET into the book, and notice the details and foreshadowing rather than just the plot points and knowing that during some of that time I was close to falling asleep until I could make a new cup of tea.
Even then, I know full well, that there is so much in this book. So much that needs to be poured over and talked about. Erica and I went over the major plot points, but there are even a few more things that we wanted to say and get out before a second read-through. But once more of my friends and family get done, it'll just be crazy to talk about. I'm very excited that this book will feel new and exciting for months yet to come and the fact that it is the end, really and truly will sink in.

Back in Red
I've dyed my hair! Only temporary (should be gone in a week) for HP7 which comes out in 26 hours!! to really be Ginny Weasely, I needed red hair, plain and simple. The dye I used (Loreal Color Pulse, Red Pluse) is a level one, and doesn't have the could-be harsh chemicals that more permanent hair dyes have. Consequently it can't lighten your hair color, only add pigment onto it, hence why my hair is auburn rather than ginger. I think it'll work perfectly for what it's going to do. Confirm that I really am the obsessive fan that was blindingly apparent a few years ago.On the subject of the book itself, I'm only now realizing how excited about it I am. I'm so glad that I've gotten to grow up with Harry (though faster than he has) and I'm also glad that I get to experience the closing of his story as more of an adult than a child. I was 13 when I got the first three books for my 13th birthday, and that opened up a wonderful world that's brought me countless hours of day-dreaming. I don't see a lot of myself directly in Harry, but any adolescent knows what it's like to feel different, and want a place to belong. Now that Harry is finally going to really become a man, I'm also on my way to finding a place in this world that's my own.
Also, I'm really hoping that we can fill out the rest of the Gryffindor Quidditch team in Portsmouth tomorrow, that would rock.

Plug Pluging
So, awhile back Scott convinced me to try online shopping through a new and extra-special site. The appeal is that they offer cash back on purchases that you make through them... and more! The more is that they have daily "shows" which feature reverse auctions (item starts at full price, and then drops as time goes on until someone buys it at that discounted price). There's also a community element to it all, and one hour a day they have a special show that's hosted and deals go super fast! The big reason though for the plugishness for Jellyfish & Smack Shopping is that they're embarking on a big membership push, and hope to do a lot by word of mouth, so here's the link that will take you there, as well as end up benefiting me in a small way ^_~

So Hip, So Trendy
I finally find time to post as I sit here in Panera Bread having french onion soup out of a bread bowl, oddly complimented by a Jones Fufu Berry Soda.Work at Liberty Mutual has been going well. I've been put to work inputing data in the form of reports so that an older program can be retired, and a newer one will be used for more accounts. It does mean that I'm doing almost the same thing everyday, but generally I can get enough into a rhythm so that my mind can drift a bit. At any rate I've been complimented by my supervisor for my speed, and any mistakes I've made have been minimal.
Plans are also in motion for moving back to NY! My security has been deposited, and I'm starting to get in the mood to search out inexpensive house hold items. I'm not normally the yard sale type because of their preference for opening early. Still I'm more than willing to sift through things at the goodwill. My mood about moving is generally high, otherwise why would I be doing it? But I do get nervous about really making it, and taking on the responsibility of actually having my own apartment. But I'm not completely alone, just gaining a bit more independence.

A Leap of Faith
For some time now there have been whispers in the air about my mom's family getting together in Atlanta this summer, specifically mid-June. We're doing this through a timeshare resort program that my grandparents are a part of and they have secured condos for everyone so that we can spend a week being together. The issue that has been around about this is that my summer plans always seem to be up in the air, and they still are but as of this evening I'm locked into a pricer flight than originally anticipated by my mother. All of us are leaving NH via Boston Saturday afternoon then Dad and I will return Tuesday night and mom will stay for the rest of the week.
I'm not thrilled about this, I'm not as close to my mom's side of the family, and as I've grown up I've felt more and more on the outside of things. Seeing them about once a year makes it feel like I need to get to know everyone all over again, and increases the chances that they've forgotten what I was doing last year, meaning I have to explain that all over again as well.
Right now I'm actually toying with the idea of not bringing my laptop with me. I've basically brought it with me on every trip ever since I got my own laptop early on in high school, but since for the first time I'm also considering carrying-on all my luggage (and buying travel size toiletries to aid me in doing so) so the less I have to fuss with the better. I will however, without question, bring my cell phone for communication updates and my DS for gaming/spending time/ having headphones in my ears.
Also part of the decision is that the last time we stayed at a resort like this they only had internet access in the lobby, not in the rooms, and I'd rather at least pretend to be social.
